In addition to the bags and wallets I made for Christmas, I also managed to get a few quilts done in the last two months. My mother pieced and did the binding on this quilt for my Aunt Sally. I did the quilting on it for her. It was all free-hand work. Around the Block My mother also did the piecing and binding on this quilt for my Aunt Wendy. I used a pantograph pattern for the quilting. Bewitched My mother and I also teamed up to complete a quilt for my sister, Carrie. The pattern is Radio Way by Jaybird Quilts and the printed fabrics were a jelly roll from a designer named MoMo and her "It's a Hoot" line produced by Moda fabrics. Now that Christmas is over, I can share several of the projects that were gifts that I worked on. Barbados Bag by Pink Sand Beach Designs. The fabrics in this have gold metallic that don't show up very well in the photos. This was for my sister-in-law. I also made a matching Fiona wallet (pattern by Clobird Designs). One of these Seahawks wallets (a variation on the Fiona pattern) was a gift to my mom. The other one I will keep since the quality wasn't up to my standards. I also made a really nice tote bag from a free online tutorial. It is called the Market Tote from Bijou Lovely ( http://www.bijoulovelydesigns.com/2010/05/market-tote-tutorial.html ). It is a heavier duty tote than some of them out there. This bag also gifted to a dear friend. I just love the cat fabric! For Christmas this year, I made my son and daughter-in-law a quilt. It was my biggest one yet. Although the sizing said queen, it measured 105" x 105". A very generous queen size quilt. I wasn't sure if it would fit on my quilting frame but it did, with a couple inches to spare. It just fits! With some much appreciated help from my mom on finishing the binding, the quilt was delivered yesterday. For Christmas, I gave my brother-in-law, Jim, his very own BBQ apron. I found a pattern posted on The Purl Bee blog. I liked this pattern because the neck strap is adjustable, plus the pattern was quick and easy to make. My local quilt shop had some nice western style prints so I chose the dark blue back with bulls and a red bandana print. BBQ Apron Jim is a very good cook and I hope he gets some use out of this BBQ apron.

In an earlier post, I shared the mini quilt I received in swap on the Quilting Board. I also participated in a Christmas Ornament Exchange. I signed up for two swaps with my handmade ornaments going to Kentucky and Oregon. Below are what I sent along with a few fat quarters and candy made in Washington. I found a pattern that was for paper piecing the ornaments. I tried it, had troubles (it's a learned skill that I haven't learned), ended up making a template to cut out the twelve pieces per ornament, and sewing together with 1/4" seams. I stuffed them and included a little "I Love Quilting" charm to the bottom. I'm pleased with how they turned out.
